1. Scope
These rules apply to the reviews, replies and nicknames you write on Thorb (together, “content”). To write a review or reply you must have received an order of that Project; reading needs no account.
2. What you may write
Only this Project and building it: how your build turned out, the problems you met and how you solved them, firmware and software, improvements, and the parts you bought. Criticism and complaints are not a violation in themselves. You may say honestly what disappointed you, and we will not turn content down for being negative.
3. What you may not write
The seven kinds below are not allowed. Each has a fixed code. When we reject or hide content because of a rule, we choose only from these seven and tell you the code and name.
R1 · Off topic
The text has nothing to do with this Project or building it, for example other products, other subjects, or plain chat.
R2 · Politics and religion
Discussion of politics, governments, elections or religion, or content that stirs up division.
R3 · Advertising, contact details and redirecting readers
Selling goods or services, leaving a WeChat ID, phone number, email address or group number, or sending readers somewhere else.
R4 · Personal information
Publishing your own or someone else’s identifying details, such as an address, phone number, ID number, order details, or a photo of another person.
R5 · Abuse and personal attacks
Insulting, threatening, discriminating against or attacking a person or a group. Criticising a product, a Project or our service does not fall under this.
R6 · Infringement
Using text, pictures, video or music that is not yours, or infringing someone’s trademark or other rights.
R7 · Unlawful content
Content that breaks the law of the People’s Republic of China or the law where you live, including prohibited goods, fraud, pornography and violence.
4. Everything is reviewed before it appears
All content is reviewed before it is shown; nothing goes public at once. After you submit, an automatic check first reads it against these rules, and then our staff review it. It is published only when they approve. If the automatic check does not pass it, we tell you what is wrong and you can edit it and send it again.
We may hide or delete published content at any time, and we have no duty to publish any content. When we reject or hide something, we name the rule it breaks.
If your review expresses a complaint, our staff may first contact you through the contact details on your order to help solve the problem. The content is not published meanwhile, for at most 7 days. After that it is handled under these rules as usual, and you may withdraw it at any time.
5. The licence you give us
You keep the copyright in your content. By submitting it you confirm that it is yours, and you grant Thorb a free, non-exclusive licence to:
- show your content on the Thorb website;
- store it;
- machine-translate it into Chinese or English and show the translation next to the original;
- use it in the machine-readable versions of the site, for example the Markdown pages that AI assistants read, marked as a customer’s review and not as something Thorb says.
The licence lasts as long as the content stays on the site.
6. Translation and third-party processing
To check and translate it, the text you write is handled by a third-party service. Only the text is sent, never your nickname, order details or contact details. See the Privacy Policy.
7. Editing, deleting and closing your account
You can edit or delete your reviews and replies at any time. When you edit published content, the old version stays up until the new one has been reviewed.
When you delete your account, your reviews, replies, Helpful marks, uploaded pictures and videos, nickname and avatar are deleted with it, and so are the replies other people wrote under your reviews.
8. Reporting
If you see a review or reply that breaks these rules, sign in and press “Report” next to it, and pick a reason. We will look at it. You can also contact us: bd@thorb.com, or WeChat thorb_com.
9. Having a problem? Contact support first
If something you bought has a problem or you need help, contact support first (WeChat thorb_com). We handle it first, and you do not have to post it publicly.
10. Changes
When these rules change, the version number goes up and is shown on the page.
